Access control

Access control is a safety & security technique that determines which users or programs are permitted to display or use resources in a specific environment.

Access controls may be logical and/or physical (passwords, cards, keys, biometry, etc.) and provide access to:

  • Material resources: buildings, places,
  • Logical resources: IT systems such as an OS or a specific application.
