In a conventional lift access control system, readers are installed inside the elevator.<\/p>\n
The user initiates a call by pressing a button, boards the elevator, presents their access card, and selects the desired floor by pressing the corresponding button. When the card is presented, the buttons illuminate to indicate the accessible floors.<\/p>\n
For residents, only the buttons for their floor and the parking area are lit, while for caretakers, all buttons are illuminated, granting access to all areas within the building.<\/p>\n
iPassan central unit provides a dry contact for each floor and each elevator. For instance, in a 40-story building with 4 elevators, 120 iPassan relays need to be connected to the elevator controller.<\/p>\n
To reduce the number of iPassan relays required, there is the integration of the Kone COP (Car Operating Panel). This integration follows the conventional elevator model and employs TCP\/IP communication between the access control system and the elevator. As a result, the need for 120 iPassan relays is eliminated.<\/p>\n
This integration doesn’t necessitate any extra hardware.
