The data is recorded on chips or RFID tags. This system works on the same principle as a barcode or a magnetic strip. As its name indicates, the RFID mechanism reacts to radio waves.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"col-12 heading\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A little <strong>history<\/strong>&#8230; <\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p><span style=\"color: inherit; background-color: initial;\">RFID technology has been used since the Second World War to identify aircraft in the airspace, but it is only since the 2000s that it has really appeared on the public market.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure><div class=\"col-12 heading\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Applications<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div><div class=\"col-12 paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This technology can be applied in different fields:<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"col-12 list\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Access control<\/li><li>Passports<\/li><li>Contactless bank cards<\/li><li>Cards for public transport<\/li><li>Electronic tolls<\/li><li>Libraries<\/li><li>Product identification<\/li><\/ul><\/div><div class=\"col-12 paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other fields of application exist but are less widespread.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"col-12 heading\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How <strong>RFID<\/strong>tags work<\/h2>\n<\/div><div class=\"col-12 paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, there are three types of operation for RFID tags:<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"container-fluid container-custom values_container blocs_container\">\n    <div class=\"row\">\n                    <div class=\"col-12  col-sm-4 col-md-4 col-lg-4  col-sm-4 col-md-4 col-lg-4  odd value_bloc mb-4\">\n                <div class=\"value_content d-flex align-items-center\">\n                    <div>\n                        <h3 class=\"h3\">Passive tags<\/h3>\n                        <div class=\"value_txt\">\n                            <p>A so-called passive radio tag draws its power from the RFID reader using the electromagnetic system for energy transfer. The manufacture of the product is therefore simplified and the cost reduced. Passive tags are the most commonly used.<\/p>\n                        <\/div>\n\n                    <\/div>\n                <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n                        <div class=\"col-12  col-sm-4 col-md-4 col-lg-4  col-sm-4 col-md-4 col-lg-4  even value_bloc mb-4\">\n                <div class=\"value_content d-flex align-items-center\">\n                    <div>\n                        <h3 class=\"h3\">Active tags<\/h3>\n                        <div class=\"value_txt\">\n                            <p>An active radio tag has a battery built into its system. Its signal can therefore be transmitted over a longer distance &amp; more data can be stored. These are the least used tags because they are expensive and have a shorter life span than passive tags.<\/p>\n                        <\/div>\n\n                    <\/div>\n                <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n                        <div class=\"col-12  col-sm-4 col-md-4 col-lg-4  col-sm-4 col-md-4 col-lg-4  odd value_bloc mb-4\">\n                <div class=\"value_content d-flex align-items-center\">\n                    <div>\n                        <h3 class=\"h3\">Semi-active tags<\/h3>\n                        <div class=\"value_txt\">\n                            <p>The operation is similar to that of a passive radio tag but it also has a small battery built into its system in order to record a certain amount of data<\/p>\n                        <\/div>\n\n                    <\/div>\n                <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n                <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"container\">\n    <div class=\"row\">\n        <div class=\"col-12 heading\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Frequencies<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div><div class=\"col-12 paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Different frequencies exist for RFID tags:<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"container-fluid container-custom values_container blocs_container\">\n    <div class=\"row\">\n                    <div class=\"col-12  col-sm-6 col-md-6 col-lg-6  col-sm-6 col-md-6 col-lg-6  odd value_bloc mb-4\">\n                <div class=\"value_content d-flex align-items-center\">\n                    <div>\n                        <h3 class=\"h3\">Low frequency<\/h3>\n                        <div class=\"value_txt\">\n                            <p>Low frequency is useful for reading tags in all environments but must respect a certain distance limit, and its transfer rate is slower. Its weight and size are generally reduced. By its characteristics, low-frequency tags are ideal for integration in materials such as plastic or textile, as well as the tracking of animals (livestock, pets &#8230;). <\/p>\n                        <\/div>\n\n                    <\/div>\n                <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n                        <div class=\"col-12  col-sm-6 col-md-6 col-lg-6  col-sm-6 col-md-6 col-lg-6  even value_bloc mb-4\">\n                <div class=\"value_content d-flex align-items-center\">\n                    <div>\n                        <h3 class=\"h3\">High frequency<\/h3>\n                        <div class=\"value_txt\">\n                            <p>The high frequency system allows a longer transmission distance and a faster transfer rate, but it is not usable in all environments because it is more sensitive to metals and liquids.
