KONE 200-floor – Activation card

Description

In a conventional elevator access control system, the readers are typically located within the elevator cars.

When a user calls the elevator, enters it, swipes their badge, and presses the button for their desired floor, the buttons corresponding to the accessible floors light up. For instance, a resident’s access will be limited to their own floor and the parking area, while a caretaker will have access to all floors in the building.

The iPassan central unit provides one dry contact per floor and per elevator. To illustrate, in a 40-story building with four elevators, this entails connecting 120 iPassan relays to the elevator controller.

The integration of the Kone COP (Car Operating Panel) follows the same model as traditional elevators, but communication between the access control and the elevator occurs via Tcp/ip.

Thanks to the integration with Kone COP, and in reference to our example, the 120 iPassan relays are no longer necessary. This is achieved without requiring any additional equipment.

Furthermore, the number of floors included in the activation code is calculated per elevator. Therefore, a 200-floor activation card fulfills the requirements for a central unit managing 4 elevators across 50 floors each.
